Ann Arbor Tournament Results

posted Aug 29, 2016, 9:46 PM by Chicago Apostles

The Apostles went 2-2 over the weekend in Ann Arbor.  We had a couple injuries the week before the tournament that kept us from sending a full squad but had a couple friends of the Apostles fill in.  We'll get them next time.

Michigan 9 - Apostles 7: It took us a half to get it together but couldn't come back.
Apostles 18 - Michigan State 8: We found our mojo in this game

Lindenwood A 13 - Apostles 7 or 8:  We think that was the score.  We got off to a slow start but couldn't come back.  Lindenwood has some very good players, caps off to them.
Apostles 18 - Lindenwood B 6:  We were happy with our defense in this game as it lead to our goals.

Chicago takes care of business in Orlando

posted Nov 5, 2013, 8:46 AM by Chicago Apostles   [ updated Nov 5, 2013, 9:10 AM ]

Apostles traveled to Orlando for the Central FL Halloween Invite hosted by YCF (October 26-27). It was a strong tournament featuring 16 teams from the US, Caribbean, and South America. NYAC beat Miami Beach in the final with Valle de Colombia winning third. The Apostles finished 4-1 in 5 games for a 9th place finish. Unfortunately, our only loss was the first game of the tourney vs the host (YCF), which created a 3-way tie with YCF, SFWPC, and Us. Since the goal differential was the tiebreaker and we had a larger loss in the YCF game, we were sent to the 3rd bracker. Full recap below:

8am - YCF 11 - Apostles 3 (Playing with the former Romanian National Team goalie (6'6"))
4pm - Apostles 18 - Daytona 4
6pm - Apostles 15 - SFWPC (South Florida) 14 (OT Shootout)

8am - Apostles 11 - Caribbean All-Stars 9
2pm - Apostles 9 - Puerto Rico National Team 8

Big thanks to Angel and Drew for making the trip. Both were huge contributors

Austin Spinlob Classic Results

This past weekend we sent a team of 12 Apostles to the Austin Spinlob Classic in Austin, TX.  The squad finished 4-1 and took 5th place out of 16 teams.  The field was very strong at the top with former national team players and elite collegiate athletes on several seams.  Our only loss was in game 3 to Olympic Club.  Great job everyone.

A well seasoned team of over 12 Apostles played in the Dave Madej Memorial Tournament in Oak Park, IL this past weekend at Fenwick High School.  The team went 4-0 with victories over the following teams: Armada, United/NWO, Loyola and the Glenbrook Gators.  Good job everyone.  Thanks for coming out.

So it begins...

The apostles have kicked off our 2013 season with our first tournament.  We sent a team to the 616 invitational in Grand Rapids, Michigan.
Although we were a bit rusty, and didn't play our best games, we managed a 2-2 record at the tournament.  Wins over Grand Valley State University and the 616 Legends were followed by a couple of tough losses to 616 and Detroit Water Polo.

Our traveling season continues on February 8-10.  We will be sending teams to both the Texas Spinlob Invitational in Austin, and the Referee training tournament in Oak Park, Illinois.

Yes, it's been quite a while since we've had a real update here.  Blame the webmaster.

The Chicago Apostles are alive and kicking, and just as active as ever.  We are getting into our fall/winter tournament season, and have our first down under our belt.

This Thursday is our annual Thanksgiving scrimmage.  Current and former team members are all invited to come out and work up an appetite.

A good time was had by all at our team's annual holiday party.  After 30 years of being a team, we have some great stories to be shared.
Trophies were handed out to those lucky enough to be considered, including our "Least Valuable Player" / current Player of the Week, Alex Shipps.
